Welcome to Yorkeys Knob State School, our special place on the tropical northern beaches of Cairns, Australia.
Set on large grounds with lush gardens, the school caters for primary students from Prep(5yrs old) to Year 7(12/13yrs old).
Our enrolments numbers are quite small compared to other schools in the Cairns area giving us the advantage of knowing all our students as individuals and catering for a diverse range of learning styles.
Small we may be in numbers but we certainly provide a comprehensive range of services to create the best possible learning environment for all our students.
We focus on literacy through a strategy that includes Literacy Blocks that concentrate school resources, human and physical, on particular sections of the school at any one time.
Other Key Learning Areas (KLA’s) are taught through a curriculum that focuses on each area as a specific entity.
The school caters for Special Needs students with a wide range of needs.
